about taking space serieTaking Space is an ongoing site specific research and performance serie. Each event is created specifically for the location chosen, aiming to bring out the buildings and it's surrounding magical and surreal potential through vertical dance and stage arts. Each Taking space is unique and is a collaboration between a different group of artists chosen to participate in the event. The serie functions as an ongoing lab, where vertical dance techniques are developed from one event to the other and become more and more diverse and fantastic. The events can be ordered as a commission for a specific building/area and for a special event, and can vary between a local collaboration between Esther Wrobel with local artists or created a pre chosen team of artists coming to the location.
The most recent Taking Space, with the sub title MODVÆGT was commissioned by the Danish Arts Foundation as part of the celebration of Danish Arts Council 50 anniversary. Esther Wrobel was selected as the singular stage artist to take part in the events. |
