ABOUT MYOPIC TIME

Myopic Time is a vertical dance and music performance. It is a poetic drama about the complexity of moments within an inevitable progression of time. By re thinking time in measurements of pouring salt, we create a system of counter weight that continuously challenges our connection to gravity. Surrounded by this depicted physical reality of limitations, the dance is anchored in memories and reflects personal stories as non-chronological events. The music is based on songs of early American blues, new age, pop and Disney. A set of remixes of the songs are composed and performed in relation to the states of weights that increases throughout the piece. An amplification of the pouring salt makes out a returning refrain and is thought as an audible expression of the theme consisting of time and lived life. Myopic Time is dedicated to the two master dancers, Carlotta Ikeda and Ko Morobushi, who’s presents in this life is deeply missed.
