“THE ROOM is one of those performances that defy both gravity and common human perception of the body's capacity. It is a both fascinating and frightening physical play with spatial perspectives and our own consciousness. Welcome to aerial dance surreal reality.” Gert Poder: The room's surreal dimension, Arbejderen. 5 stars TRANSLATED FROM DANISH .
The Room deals with perceptions of reality through dance, new circus, visual arts, and electro-acoustic music. By using a combination of video projection and vertical dance the audience
is immersed in a 3D scenery where the perception of gravity is constantly challenged. With flying acrobatics and dance the artists merge with the projected animations flawlessly. The show is engaging and playful yet it leaves room for philosophical questions regarding our individual role in perceiving reality. The Room performs in two different versions: 1. A 40 minute duet created for black box theater. 2. A 6 minute solo which performs only on the wall and can take place both in and outdoors. Minimum height of wall (and rigging point) : 5.5 m CHOREOGRAPHY: Esther Wrobel PERFORMANCE: Milou (Emilie) Loger and Esther Wrobel ANIMATOR: Sam Moore COMPOSER: Camilla Barratt Due The Room is a co production between Esther Wrobel and Kompagni Cie Lezartikal. Other co producers: Bora Bora, Les Subsistances (Le Mans) and MSDH (Machol Shalem Dance House), Supported by the Danish Arts Foundation and Augustinus Fonden. |
